I was quite stoked when I finally opened my Guitar Hero World Tour Guitar Bundle. Finally, I’ll be able to play guitars again after my Rock Band guitar conked out.

I have to say that Activision did a relatively good job with the new Guitar Hero Guitar. The guitar feels sturdier and looks very “adult”. You won’t feel like an idiot if you’re seen playing this baby. The face plate of the guitar is interchangeable so those who want a snazzier guitar can actually buy new faceplates for it.

I love the new touch-sensitive strip that has been incorporated as a new gameplay element. When you see a series of notes that are interconnected by a purple “rope” you can slide your hands on the strip to create a slide-guitar sound. I think it’s a fresh take on guitar gameplay that adds a new challenging dimension. I’m actually still getting used to this new style.

One of the best things about the guitar is that it is compatible with Rock Band and Rock Band 2, so I’m fairly covered already as far as guitars go.

Many gamers are anticipating the game because of the drum set that comes with a cymbal controllers out of the box as well as the composition and sharing capabilities.

RedOctane has announced that a deluxe version of the game will be made available on the launch date. Priced at $239.99, this edition will be made available for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The deluxe editions for the Wii and PS2 will be priced at $219.99.

The deluxe edition bundle will have the game itself, a usb mic, 5-pad drum set with pdeal, guitar and drum wireless receivers, drum sticks, GHWT guitar faceplate, sticker pack, guitar strap, T-shirt, dual recharge kit, dual gig bag and key chain.

The deluxe edition will cost $50 more than the regular bundle priced at $189.99. And apparently, the price difference will only be for the addition of the shirt, keychain, recharge kit, and gig bag. Only the die-hard fans and the rich would probably spring for this bundle.

As for me, I’ll settle for the regular guitar bundle.

Instead of immediately springing for another guitar controller, I just decided to wait for the arrival of both the Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour instruments. Unfortunately, since the PS3 versions will only be released middle to late October I’ll have to be game-free for the next few weeks.

The self-imposed hiatus will be a good time for me to really examine which guitar controller to buy. Of course, I’m not going to get controllers for both games. My plan is to get the best controller and buy the bundle for that game. Then I’ll just buy the solo game for the other title. My dilemma now is deciding which controller to buy. I’m getting confused choosing between the RB2 or GHWT controllers.

What do you guys think? Which controller do you think is the best one?

Most notably, I am worried about their new drum kit, which will have six inputs (this includes the foot pedal). You see, I already have the Rock Band bundle and with the kit’s five inputs I am pretty much at a quandary whether to go ahead and buy a second drum set.

One of my biggest worries about the upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour are the peripherals that Neversoft will unleash to the public. Most notably, I am worried about their new drum kit, which will have six inputs (this includes the foot pedal). You see, I already have the Rock Band bundle and with the kit’s five inputs I am pretty much at a quandary whether to go ahead and buy a second drum set. The worry here is that it will double my expense, eat up more space in my living room and ultimately piss off my wife.

It’s a good thing that Neversoft has announced that ALL instruments will be compatible with Guitar Hero: World Tour. According to the company, the game will automatically sense whether a six- or five-input device is plugged into the console and it will automatically remap the song to compensate. This is a nifty feature and a great service to rhythm game fans.

A small caveat though is that this announcement is only applicable to the Xbox 360. We’ll have to wait for Sony to announce whether this will also apply to them. Hopefully, it does because I don’t have an Xbox 360.
