Almost one year ago I wrote Bang! An Illustration About The History of Everything, about an illustrated book for children (and grown ups) that teaches them about the Big Bang. The text is written in rhyme and the characters are an elderly couple. The writer/illustrator, James Dunbar has since then organized himself better and started a Kickstarter project to fund book 2 which is illustrated in color.

Within five days he reached the $1000 pledged and by the end of the pledge he raised $6144. With that amount he created It’s Alive! The Universe Verse: Book 2. An illustrated book about the origin of life on Earth. There is an online version available and a free PDF to download. If you prefer paperback you can buy it for $15.95.

As someone who was bored at school in science related classes I can say that The Universe Verse Book is awesome. Even as an adult now I enjoy reading it and learning things about our origin I didn’t know until now. The text reads easy and memorable.

The universe started out tiny and dense, it expanded and cooled, becoming immense, growing each moment in size and suspense.

If you like me are fan of “The Big Bang Theory” and Dr. Sheldon Cooper, learning these basic knowledge about the Big Bang and the origin of live, will help you understand Dr. Coopers yabbering at times.

The book makes an awesome and educational gift to kids that are into science, planets and space. I know of a four year old boy who will be delighted with this book.

MBike, a bike brand, has a very unique ad campaign using a threesome of fictional pathology illustrations depicting the consequences of an inactive life due to our modern way of life. With computers and machines doing most of the work, we humans spend a lot more time sitting behind a computer than 60 years ago. Not only for work, but socially also.

MBike made good use of that fact using pathology illustrations of humans with symptoms such as Deskorheea, Chronic Computerosis and Armchairitis. Each illustration contains text describing the causes and the cure.

These ads were created by the advertising agency, Frank, from Romania. It is a brilliant idea, one I can’t believe no advertising agency thought about for campaigns against RSI.

Deskorheea<//h3>

Chronic Computerosis

Armchairitis

I certainly suffer from all these ailments, but instead of curing it by riding a bike, I walk and use public transportation. These illustrations are in good fun, yet it’s a very valid point. I remember before broadband internet became common you would see polls asking how many times a day you spend behind a computer. The answers would vary from two hours to 10 hours. Now a days the question should be when are you not behind a computer.

The curse of modern life, reminds me of the humans in the movie Wall-E.

The Zombie birds are pretty scary for a cartoon illustration, the art work is excellent and worthy of being printed and hanged on the wall of your office.

Angry Zombie Birds

New levels, fan art and other official products are being launched faster then I can finish the levels. I’m still stuck half away the Halloween edition, not even two games along on the Holiday edition and not to mention the latest release recently. Maybe it’s time I start using the spoiler websites to advance a little.

Check out Tomasz Kaczkowski’s page for more illustrations and a larger resolution of all the birds together.

Living in an apartment and with a baby boy on the way, Brandon and Emma Peat had to get creative with decorating the baby room. Painting the walls is not allowed so they were left with few options, posters and prints. Luckily for them they are both artists, so they decided to create their own illustrations.

They created the Star Wars alphabet, an illustration for each letter representing a character from Star Wars. Only characters from the original trilogy were considered. I’m not a Star Wars expert but apparently the true fans do not like the prequels that much.

Besides the ‘no characters from the prequels’ they had one more requirement, that the illustrations would be kid friendly.

We also tried to keep the illustrations as non-violent as possible (in the words of Wuher, “No blasters!”) for maximum kid-friendliness.

The Luke and Leia illustration is too funny, not to mention Vader’s illustration.

If it wasn’t for copyright restrictions, Brandon and Emma would be very successful at selling the illustrations. I bet these illustration will be hanging for years to come in their kids room.

For the upcoming show, “Pixel Pushers: An Exploration of 8‐Bit Digital Media”, curated by Giant Robot, artist Jude Buffum came with the idea to create pixel illustrations inspired by meat diagrams.

These illustrations are not just any meat diagram, they are diagrams of 8-bit video game characters like our beloved Yoshi and the always present Koopa amongst others. Imagine you where to eat these video games animals; what would the meat parts be names, how to cook them best and what side dish and drink goes well with it.

This is a real creative piece, it does take some fantasy to come up with something so unique and also the illustrations are done in pixels which is my favorite. Give me a 8-bit video game and I’m happy.

Like the illustration says, Yoshi tastes like chicken. You can have a fried yoshi leg or a yoshi sandwich whith french fries and a coke.

As a carnivore I’m not disgusted by this but I could see that vegetarians wouldn’t find these illustrations that amusing. But this is art, and this particular one is so simple and unique I can’t help but find it brilliant. After all it is our human nature to know what all is edible, even if it is a non existing video game animal.

View the rest of the illustrations.

You can purchase each individual illustration as prints, iPhone skins(3G, 3Gs), iPad cases, laptop cases, etc. Cases with the more retro cars, like Herbie, combined with the cases blue color gives it a retro feel that goes nice with the hyper modern iPad or iPhone.

My favorite van is Speedracer’s Mach5, I used to watch Speedracer everyday and I like his car more then say Batman’s Batmobile. Which van illustration is your favorite one or which car would you like to see as a van?

Israel decided to select the most fun tweets and create illustrations of them. David is in charge of selecting the tweets while Kiersten illustrates them, together they present the most hilarious illustrations that make the original tweet even more funnier.

At Twaggies you can enjoy an average of 7 illustrations a month like these ones:

This is so true, I do it myself, I will notice it’s raining a bit outside and instead of getting up and taking a good look outside the windows I’ll check the weather website to make sure.

We all do this or when my streamline just won’t deliver something interesting I’ll start looking for other people to follow and see if they come up with something interesting.

The illustrations bring the point more home, the two listed above are really geek tweets and they make me wonder: 14 years ago I did not have internet, no broadband, Twitter, Facebook ,etc. What did I do when I was bored?

Twaggies has been added to my feeds and followed. Keep on tweeting your snarky or funny remarks who knows you might get twaggled.
