GoldenEye was a game that had no right to be a success. Historically, games made as tie-ins or companions to movies turn out terrible because publishers have to rush their production in order to release them alongside the movie they’re based on. GoldenEye was one of the few exceptions to this rule. Its killer multiplayer modes all but defined online play for consoles.
