Pleistocene Park, anyone? Scientists from Japan and Russia are close to being able to clone woolly mammoths. Did these people learn nothing from Michael Crichton? Woolly mammoths roaming freely in the Siberian tundra could give a whole new meaning to Attack of the Clones. Read more »

Geek-meets-Elegant in the Best Wedding Ever
How do you geek up a wedding? Add Star Wars, dinosaurs, Battlestar Galactica, Serenity, World of Warcraft, and even a hint of steampunk. The twist? You’d never in a million years expect a wedding like this one — held in a natural history museum, no less — to be so incredibly posh. Read more »

Scifi Ikea Manuals
I’m just nuts over these Ikea manuals. They’re not real of course, but anyone who’s ever put together a piece of Ikea furniture will recognize the smiling, line-drawn character, the list of materials needed to build, and the wordless, step-by-step instructions. With tongue firmly in cheek, CollegeHumor put together these Ikea manual parodies of famous objects from science fiction movies and TV. I love them all, but my favorite has to be the TARDIS, because of the Fez. Fezzes are cool, you know. Like bow ties. Read more »
New Footage of Jurassic Park Game’s Dinos
Holy blessed snot, does this video make me nostalgic for Jurassic Park. That first movie rocked the world in so many ways — showing us realistic dinosaurs for the very first time, and amping up Spielberg’s Jaws-level thrills & spills to terrifying new levels. It was one of the very first times a major Hollywood movie held its spectacle cards close to the vest, refusing to reveal the dinosaurs in any of the trailers or commercials so that the experience would be preserved for those who saw it on the big screen. (That example has been followed by dozens of blockbusters in the years since.) Telltale Games is nearing release on Read more »
The Walking Dead: The Game Announced
By all accounts, AMC’s The Walking Dead was the most exciting new show of 2010, delivering record ratings (for cable) and endless watercooler fodder. So a video game based on this couldn’t-be-hotter property seems like a foregone conclusion, right? Well, yeah. But you may be surprised at who’s making The Walking Dead: The Game. It’s Telltale Games, the company best known for episodic adventures like Sam & Max and Strong Bad. Telltale has been making a major push lately into licensed Hollywood properties, an initiative that kicked off with Back to the Future: The Game (review) and the upcoming Jurassic Park: The Game. The Walking Dead will be based on the Read more »
Jurassic Park Game Set After First Movie
When Telltale Games landed the Universal account for making video games out of Universal film properties, Back to the Future was only the beginning. Also part of that deal: Jurassic Park. And now we know a little more about what that game will be like. Let’s face it. As charming as Telltale’s adventure games can be, they’re just not quite the best fit for an action/thriller franchise like Jurassic Park. And according to the latest issue of Game Informer‘s print magazine, Universal intentionally teamed with Telltale for this very reason. Universal wasn’t interested in slapping dinosaurs into another FPS engine and marketing it as a dino-shooter. Telltale is known for Read more »
It’s Time to Go Back… to the Future!
Alright! Somebody’s finally making a Back to the Future videogame! This is so overdue. That first movie is still one of my favorite movies of all time. Marty McFly and Doc Brown are coming to a platform near you thanks to a new partnership between Telltale Games and Universal Studios. Telltale is best known for its episodic, story-driven adventure games, such as the Sam & Max series. They’re bringing this same formula to a five-episode “season” for Back to the Future, this winter. The first concept art from the game is seen above. Read more »
