Activision files trademark for "Dance Hero"

Konami may have invented the rhythm game genre with its bemani series of games (Guitar Freaks and Drummania being some of the most popular), but companies like Harmonix and Activision has coopted it into their own with the success of Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Even with Konami’s decision to enter the increasingly crowded rock star genre with its Rock Revolution, it will be hard for the company to gain the ground it lost. Konami to release Rock Revolution

I’ve mentioned numerous times that I am a rhythm game addict—more specifically, an addict for the Guitar Hero/Rock Band type rhythm games. I’ve got both games at home. I already have my Guitar Hero controller but I’m still waiting for my Rock Band special bundle to arrive (it’s currently being shipped to my address). I love the instrument based rhythm games so much that I even have the Konami Guitar Freaks and DrumMania games with the original controllers.
