I love Japanese watches though I’ve never owned one and they’re not usually the easiest timepieces to actually tell the time with — not to begin with anyway. Yet here comes a definite imposter. Take a look at the Iron Samurai red LED watch and you’ll see that it features standard digits. OK, so the fact that the hour is displayed above, and not next to, the minutes might catch a few people out, but it’s not rocket science. At one level I like the idea of this coffee table. Yes, it’s ludicrously expensive — $1,500 for a small table up to $2,100 for a large one — but it has a certain cool factor to it. It contains 480 super-bright LEDs and 24 infrared optical sensors to provide visual feedback when an area of the table is touched or an object is placed on it. Here’s a neat little idea which was initially designed to be used in public showering areas, particularly ones you have to pay for. The shower controls and the shower head are both fitted with LEDs that are used to show how much time is remaining, and also what the temperature of the water is. Read more »
I bet you’ve always wondered if you could get hold of a storage jar that glows in the dark and doesn’t require batteries to be changed? The Moon Jar is just that. It’s a solar-powered LED light source that glows either blue or amber. Does Kenwood make washing machines, because when I first saw these speakers that’s what I thought they were modelled on. These are glass speakers with white and blue LEDs, and they can even be supplied with some stands that also have lights built in. Trouble is, they cost close to $1,000 and yet they only offer 10W of output per channel, which is pretty pathetic. Read more »
