This is some pretty remarkable news for fans of the future of technology as well as fans of the always awe-inspiring Star Wars universe. Magic Leap is an experimental augmented reality company that is looking for interesting new ways for us to experience multi-media entertainment, and they have just teamed up with Lucasfilm to create what they call “experimental story moments.” What does that mean exactly? Well, imagine an interactive Star Wars movie/game hybrid where you could interact with characters and key moments? The opportunities are boundless, and from what they have already shown, their tech is impressive as hell. So what is going to happen next?
Well, this is where the BUT comes in (and there is always a but)…..
We know that Magic Leap and Lucasfilm have partnered off here, but we will not know the end result of that majestic union for some time. Just drool at the above video and use it as a blueprint for what we MIGHT get down the road. Now imagine how far the tech will have come by the time we DO get something and imagine how much MORE impressive it will be than the above video?
Sorry, I am just very optimistic when it comes to anything Star Wars. We will keep you all posted about this amazing news, mentally, like good Jedi.
