Last week, while I was combing the bazaars of Kuala Lumpur for little trinkets to take home as gifts, I came across tons of stuff that I suppose will delight many of our ForeverGeek readers. From Domo-kun plushies and shirts to Angry Birds key chains to Superman/Batman belts to geek-themed mouse pads – they were all over the place. I remember the last group of items particularly because I remember thinking to myself “Who uses mouse pads these days?” I’ve been wrong before, and I am probably wrong now. If DesignNoy’s Etsy Shop is any indication, people still do use mouse pads. What’s more, people pay for the mouse pads, too!

Here are some of the coolest mouse pads you’ll see this week. Heck, maybe this month. I know for sure they’re way better than the knockoffs I saw at the bazaars.

Here’s another Mario-inspired mouse pad if World 1-1 is not your thing.

All the mouse pads are cloth-topped with a non-slip, non-marking rubber base. They measure in at approximately 9-1/4″ x 7-3/4″ and are 1/4 of an inch thick. If you don’t feel like using a mouse pad – or you have no need of them – you’ll always have some space on your fridge door.

Create an activity clock on your refrigerator

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve needed to know what time it is when I go the refrigerator for an evening snack.

Actually, no, scratch that, I haven’t, but I can see some use for the DIY fridge magnet clock here.

The idea is that you attach the basic mechanism to the fridge door and then place various “activity” discs around to form the 12 hours of the day. In fact, you could probably use even less, as seen in the picture.

The concept is probably good for those who have a very regular schedule, but I don’t think it would work for me. Though I might get up at much the same time every day and make a coffee, I don’t need the fridge to tell me to do that. Plus, I don’t think I’ll be regularly (if ever) taking part in some of the activities depicted on the blue magnetic discs:

Make what you will of some of those. You could probably quite easily make your own activity discs too.

Where does the kit come from? We don’t know, sorry.
