Geeks and fashion? Gone are the days when the reasonable people did not care about what to wear. Instead, today, we hear about hipsters, geek chic, geek fashion, and so on. There are even entire ensembles created especially for those who want to look geeky cool! Maybe there is nothing wrong with that, but it is something that I still cannot totally grasp. Anyhow, did any of you hear about FashionWare 2011? It epitomizes the trend that I just outlined above. FashionWare was dubbed as the “Fashion Week for Geek Fashionistas” and was held at the recently concluded CES 2011. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure Read more »

Retro Mobile Phones
Smartphones are now the norm for mobile phones. All brands sell smartphones, it’s more difficult to get a plain mobile phone then a smartphone. Nowadays if you want to buy a phone you have to consider a lot more things then seven years ago. The brand, operating system, touch screen, qwerty or both. Back then you only considered how many minutes and SMS to buy, now data is as important as the previous two. It has become a pass time of mine, when I’m on public transportation to count how many old skool mobile phones I can spot. I remember three years ago it was cool to spot the first Read more »

Stuart Hughes, renowned British jeweler, has just come up with an iPhone that will definitely stand out from the rest of the iPhones that you see yuppies, geeks, and your mom carrying around. iPhone as a Tool for the Visually Impaired
‘Tis no secret how I have always wanted an iPhone, but priorities dictate that I spend my money otherwise. (Yes, I can be responsible when I want to.) After reading this guy raving about his new iPhone though, I just can’t help but feel more excited about the product. It’s not like I need the features he describes, but the piece gave me a different perspective on how the iPhone can be more than just another gadget to toy with, but something that really adds value to one’s daily existence. According to Austin Seraphin the iPhone is “the greatest thing to happen to the blind for a very long time, Read more »
The iPhone 4 Contenders
Apple’s fourth iPhone (iPhone 4) is just as popular as – if not more popular than – the first generation iPhone. Three years and four versions later, the iPhone has been immensely improved, but with a growing price tag. For the die hard Apple fan – and perhaps for those who simply must have the latest and the greatest – price is not an issue. They will buy as soon as the iPhone is available, and most of them will buy every new release. But not everyone is willing to spend that amount of money each year and not everyone is an Apple fan no matter what. If the price Read more »
If It’s Not an iPhone, Why Would I Want It?
Why do you want an iPhone? Some of the hardcore Apple fanboys would probably fire off a long list of why the iPhone is coolest and the best mobile phone out there, but if you ask me, many people might actually be “Apple zombies.” If you ask them why the want the iPhone, they’ll probably just say because it’s the iPhone. I totally get where they’re coming from – sometimes I find myself thinking the same way. While we might never find out just why the iPhone is that attractive, we can join the creative people who poke fun at the whole idea. Check out this video I found on Read more »
XP2 Spirit: The most rugged 3G cellphone?
Sonim, maker of ultra-tough mobile phones, has just introduced its latest model. The XP2 Spirit is a 3G-enabled cellphone designed to be fully rugged and yet still sporting a decent range of features. First up, it’s octagonal (not equilateral, that would look rather odd) which is supposed to help it stand up better to being dropped. It’s also waterproof, having an outer shell made from hardened rubber, fibre glass and nylon, and a GORE-TEX covered speaker. Other features include a 3MP camera, two inch high-resolution (QVGA) display (with 1.5mm of Gorilla glass protection), JAVA application support, multimedia player, FM radio, email and web browser, Bluetooth but no Wi-Fi. It runs Read more »
Vodafone UK launches Sure Signal to boost indoor 3G coverage
Those of us for who the mobile phone is the most important communication tool will know the problem of trying to use it in a home or office that cuts out signal quality and makes it difficult or impossible to use. A recent survey by Vodafone found that one in five Brits have missed an important event or occasion because of a lack of signal, while one in fifty would even consider moving house to get a better cellphone signal indoors. Many people now rely on their mobile phone, with some no longer having a fixed line phone. For anyone who craves a better indoor signal, Vodafone has launched its Read more »

Google Nexus One Or The iPhone?
Oh, the decisions we have to make in life! Less than two weeks into 2010 and I am already facing a dilemma. You see, I have a LONG list of resolutions for this year. If you read my post earlier this week, you’d know that one of them is to finally buy an iPhone. No more self-restraint or el cheapo mode for me – at least for this gadget. Then I started reading up on Google Nexus One. Was this a mistake or a stroke of luck? You tell me. I should receive some news later today about “my” iPhone, but I am thinking that maybe it is the Nexus Read more »
