The LEGO Emperor’s Arrival

The LEGO Emperor’s Arrival

When Jay Hoff decided to create a LEGO diorama of the Emperor’s arrival (from the beginning of Return of the Jedi), he wasn’t messing around. Hand-built to Minifigure scale, this mind-boggling MOC is comprised of 30,000 LEGO pieces, and utilizes almost 400 Minifigures. Perhaps most impressively, it’s built to Minifigure scale. What if Star Trek‘s Borg had created the LEGO brand? That’s where my mind goes when I look at this striking construction by LEGO builder Lukáš Šógor. (A second pic taken from a different angle is below.) He describes his piece as “Future LEGO,” but to me, it screams Borg. Don’t know about you, but the Borg cliffhanger episode where Captain Picard was assimilated is one of those geek moments that’s etched in my mind forever. I still remember where I was when that cliffhanger, “The Best of Both Worlds,” first aired. I can still hear the dramatic rise in the episode’s music when Commander Riker gave the shocking order to destroy Picard Read more »
