Mutant Therapy

New Mutants #28 Harsh therapy

With it being shipping day today, I probably should wax lyrical about any issue ones released today, such as Robert Kirkman and Rob Liefeld’s Infinite #1. I mean, this is Robert Kirkman, creator of Invincible and the Walking Dead, what’s not to like? I confess I am not a fan of Liefeld’s art, and what I have read of the plot in advance interviews with the writer, I see very little to differentiate it from say Stan Lee’s The Traveller or various other time travel stories I have read. Veruca Salt Speaks: Give ‘Em The Spotlight, NOW!

It is I, the Veruca Salt of comic book geeks returned to make more unrealistic demands in the hope of someday being appointed supreme ruler of the comic universe and given free reign to resurrect titles, bestow series on worthy characters, and create super groups with little more than a snap of my wee dainty fingers. And Wolfsbane is cavorting in the Rockies with her Asgardian boy friend. I Read more »

New Mutants variant cover revealed

The folks at IGN has finally revealed the variant cover for the new upcoming X title New Mutants #1 and it’s looking pretty cool. Back in the team are former New Mutants members, Sunspot, Moonstar, Magma, Doug and Warlock. Still can’t remember if Karma was part of the original team. I’m pretty sure that Magik (Ilyana Rasputin) was a member though. Of all the X-Men characters I have the most psychedelic memories of her. I read her Magik miniseries in the Eighties, the one where she was trapped in Limbo with the Demon Belasco and that was one head trip. It’s also the reason why Magik is one of my Read more »
