Why are we not surprised at reports that the software giant is trying to discourage customers who may have heard of Linux and dare to challenge the sales staff at Best Buy, claiming that it’s difficult to install and use? Of course, Microsoft has been dissing Macs for a long time, mainly on the basis that they’re too expensive. Thing is, it’s hard to do that with Linux, given that it will run on exactly the same hardware (and in fact, less powerful hardware, too) as Windows bloated OS, and yet is available for free. Should Firefox add multitouch support?
There’s an interesting set of diagrams and discussion over at the Mozilla Wiki about adding multitouch and gesturing to Firefox. It doesn’t mention what this is in response to — Apple MacBook multitouch trackpad, perhaps, or the increasing number of mobile devices with touchscreens — but of course it is dependent on associated hardware to work correctly. Google To Create A Netbook?
I wouldn’t mind having one. I am still loving my MSI Wind but a new gadget is always welcome. The rumors are that Google is gathering data that it will need to come up with an Android-powered netbook. On Thursday of last week, people spotted a Google ad on Craigslist which sought people who want to participate in a study focused on netbook usability. Naturally, participants would have to sign a non-disclosure agreement. They would also have $75 in American Express gift checks as remuneration. Read more »
