Harshness, the guy who created the X-Men minimalist posters, is based in Portland, Oregon and describes these poster prints:

• This print was created using archival pigment inks, and is printed on archival, heavyweight, matte paper.
• Print is signed and ready for framing.
• COLORS: Please Let Me Know Your Color Choice In The “Notes To Seller”. If No Choice Is Made, Print Will Come In The Color Shown.

As you can expect, all the posters have a dominant X in the background, with each character’s symbol incorporated into the image. I particularly like how the colors look for the Rogue and Wolverine posters.

Sure, there is the fact that these two characters just might be the most popular ones in the franchise, but there is something about the blending of the colors that make them stand out from the others. Nightcrawler kicks butt, too, with the way that the character is portrayed.

As for Cyclops, I am not too sure about the poster. Aside from the shades, which I do not really like at all, there is something that tells me the poster doesn’t quite measure up to the others.

Just when I thought that I would not see anything new and interesting about superhero art any time soon, I discovered the work of Grégoire Guillemin, a French artist. One of his collections feature superhero posters which are inspired by art deco, the artistic/design style that has its roots in Paris. If you know next to zilch about art deco (like me), this description from Wikipedia should help.

Art Deco is characterized by use of materials such as aluminium, stainless steel, lacquer, Bakelite, Chrome and inlaid wood. Exotic materials such as sharkskin (shagreen), and zebra skin were also evident. The use of stepped forms and geometric curves (unlike the sinuous, natural curves of Art Nouveau), chevron patterns, ziggurat-shapes, fountains, and the sunburst motif are typical of Art Deco. Some of these motifs were ubiquitous – for example, sunburst motifs were used in such varied contexts as women’s shoes, radiator grilles, radio and clock faces, the auditorium of the Radio City Music Hall, and the spire of the Chrysler Building.

Now on the good stuff – the art deco superhero posters. Guillemin has included the many of the usual suspects, although the absence of Superman and Spiderman cannot be ignored. That being said, the posters are, if not exactly my kind of thing, very attention grabbing. See for yourself.

Definitely the best photo/pose of Henry Cavill on this list, though of course it’s a total Photoshop manipulation putting that pic of him into the suit. I think this would be a great way for Warner Bros. to go with the marketing; they’ve been talking up the “darker and grittier” new take on Superman, and this shows that off in spades. I am back to re-reading the books, although it slow going for me. While I will recommend the books every time, I have to admit there are parts that drag on. But you get that from many great works, so it is no big deal.

Anyhow, just to whet your Game of Thrones appetite more, I have something for you. Here are some really striking Game of Thrones minimalist posters of the houses that you encounter in the story – big or small, it does not matter. They all play a part in the saga that we have come to love.

The posters are the work of Thomas Gateley, who showed off his artistry via his Flickr account. I think that these Game of Thrones minimalist posters are a great example of how less becomes so much more. Take a look at them yourself to see what I mean.

It is the future, and it seems that Back to the Future has not lost one bit of its luster. Late last year, Universal decided to re-launch the movie in the theaters. Earlier this year, news about a Back to the Future game was released. And some time last month, designer Dave Williams revealed the design for his latest Back to the Future poster.

This poster is still in the works – mainly testing at the printer’s for colors and such. Dave announced in his blog, however, that only 50 posters will be released – each numbered and signed. You can pre-order your poster for GBP14.99 if you’re in the UK, GBP19.99 for the rest of Europe, and GBP24.99 elsewhere.

Just like Dave’s other posters, this one measures in at 24 x 18 inches. Speaking of the other posters…

It’s the simplest of the three, but one can’t help but appreciate the colors used – very true to the movie’s logo. The DeLorean may not be in the poster, but those yellow “flames” say it all. Understandably, Dave quickly ran out of the original prints, but due to popular demand, he decided to re-print of the design, so you can still get your hands on one to make the collection complete.

Definitely worthy of our Dept. of Want It! Now this all makes me want to start a BTTF marathon!

Then I saw this jaw-dropping poster about all the superpowers that have ever been in existence. When I say jaw-dropping, I mean jaw-dropping. This is no ordinary chart. It contains more than 100 powers and abilities – some of which you might have thought existed only in your wildest dreams. Not only that, but you will also see the names of more than 200 superheroes – and villains – to give you something to relate the powers to. Awesome? Definitely.

The group who worked so hard to give us this chart is Pop Chart Lab, in cooperation with Bergen Street Comics. Yup, these guys know what they are talking about, and they made sure that the info in the poster are accurate. The posters are selling for $25 each. With the amount – and significance – of information contained in the poster, that is a small price to pay. You have to be quick, though, as there are only 500 of these posters – each signed by the artists and numbered. They are coming out with future editions, and even better, they are asking people for suggestions. You know, just in case they missed something/someone. These fifteen posters — fan-made, every one — reflect the real cast and potential storylines of the film. And you’ll wish that every one of them was real.

These first three posters by artist Victor Geronimo capture a look for the two new villains — Bane, played by Tom Hardy, and Catwoman, played by Anne Hathaway — that feels perfectly at home in Christopher Nolan’s version of Batman’s world. The colors are fantastic, too. [Sources: 1, 2, 3]

I’m in love with the idea behind this one, by P2P Productions. Gotham no longer uses the Bat Signal, but as Batman himself glides over the city, his shadow casts the Signal into the clouds. Slick. [Source]

Nicholas Baltra created this one, where Batman’s “backup” bats form his insignia in the sky. [Source]

Minimalism works to this one’s advantage, by Geoff Glees. Anne Hathaway’s black-and-white mug smiles at us knowingly as she stares into Batman’s face. The red lipstick is the color of blood, of course, sealing the deal. [Source]

The inclusion of Bane as one of the main villains has sent many a fan’s mind spinning with thoughts of “Knightfall,” the 1993 comic book storyline where Batman’s back was broken at the culmination of a brutal fight against Bane. This clever poster by Thomas Clarke plays directly to that potential source material. [Source]

Ryan Luckoo’s sepia toned poster featuring Bane hits all the right notes. It doesn’t have a tagline and doesn’t need one. [Source]

This one calls to mind those Dark Knight posters featuring the Joker painting his red smile across Batman’s logo. Try as I might, I couldn’t locate the artist behind this one (please post their name/link in the comments if you know it). [Source]

Another one where the focus is on Bane, drawing inspiration again from Joker’s graffiti-like scrawls from the last movie. Artist Max “Cure4″ manages to smartly tie together the plot points of Batman’s new outsider status with Bane’s deadly intentions. [Source]

Love the colors and composition. Love the tagline, evoking the threads between all three Nolan movies. And gargoyles are always cool. By “hobo95.” [Source]

It’s the details on Sascha Cybula’s Bane-centric poster that make it work. The cuts and scars on Bane’s skin, the torn gloves, Batman’s logo etched in blood… Consider it the “horror movie” entry in this collection. [Source]

Brilliantly stylish, “El Gato”‘s take on Catwoman is the first image to truly evoke the pathos that Anne Hathaway is capable of bringing to the role. [Source]

I’ve saved the best for last. In my opinion, Josh Gilbert’s interpretation of Batman’s continuing struggle against the police is the best of the bunch. With helicopters bearing down on him, Batman makes a daring leap through a high-rise window, and attempts to glide to safety. The whole thing is just brilliant, but that broken glass logo is absolute perfection. [Source]

Last week Robin posted about the villains that are going to be featured in The Dark Knight Rises and who was cast for the roles. Bane starring Tom Hardy and Catwoman starring Anne Hathaway will be The Dark Knight nemesis in the third movie.

I’m not an expert on the whole Batman/Dark Knight franchise, but I believe it is the second time we’ll see the character Bane in a movie. Please correct me if I’m wrong. As for Catwoman, Anne Hathaway succeeds numerous actress before her whom have portrayed the role of Catwoman.

According to Sheldon Cooper he thinks these actress are the best catwoman, in the following order: Julie Newmar, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eartha Kitt, Lee Meriwether, and then Halle Berry. I wonder how Anne Hathaway will rank on his list.

With the villains and actors announced, I have come across the first cool fan-made poster for each respective villain.

These awesome fan-made posters where created by Geoff Glees. I’m looking forward if he or other artists will come with more posters for the movie. I may not be an expert of the franchise, but I love watching the movies on the big screen.

Last month Robin posted every Tron: Legacy images available then. With the movie currently showing and people talking about it, it has become a must see and get to know cult movie for me. Can you say Tron is a cult movie? I’m going with cult for a movie first released in 1981 which is 29 years ago and still garners a lot of attention today.

Tron: Legacy isn’t out yet here in the Netherlands so I have time to see Tron first to catch on all the hype. Do check out these posters made by artists/Tron fans.

Eric Tan’s posters

Eric Tan designed a retro poster for Tron and Tron: Legacy which was sold in limited edition on Mondotees. From what you can read on the blog the posters sold out right away leaving some people angry about missing out.

One has to admit it is hard keeping up with passwords, I have so many online accounts that I have to write down passwords. I also have a system where I use one password and each site has a variation to that one password. This way the chances I forget it are pretty small.

Now there is a funny, creative and useful poster with the 500 worst passwords according to Mark Burnett author of Perfect Password Selection and Protection.

If you work in an office where you are responsible for managing the IT department, you should ad this poster to the list of office purchases.

For good measure email it to everyone you know who might need a reminder.

You can buy a poster from Etsy. They cost 38 dollars and only 30 has been printed of which a few are left.

18×24, printed on newsprint, navy blue ink, red ink cover and a light blue ink security pattern printed on the back, just for good measure.

Also I’m happy to say I never used any words or number from that list as a password!
