Two great first issues this week, one revealing a long awaited history while the other pushes forward to create a new one. Yet one vibrant and multi-layered comics legacy seems yet again to be fading into obscurity. In an Q&A session on Facebook prior to San Diego Comicon, Dan DiDio answered questions regarding the new DCnU, but there was one little pearl that I found devastating. Joys Of The Back-Issue Bins
As much as we like to review the newest, coolest, hippest release, it is sometimes nice to remember that there are treasures to be found in the bins, some from our childhoods or even before we were that glimmer in somebody’s eye. Comics have a rich history, there’s a reason why this is a cool media. Neither can we ignore the cheesy or cutesy, from Disney to DC’s Sugar and Spice, legacies that continue through to today. I regret to say there was little to be impressed with. No Kid Flash title. Nor, despite previous assurances that he was not going to be squeezed out, no strip for the Wally West Flash either, it will be Barry Allen all the way.
