Rock Band 2 redemption site opens

One of the offers bannered with the release of Rock Band 2 are the 20 additional tracks that could be downloaded for free by buyers of the game. This was a great offer as it really beefs up the already sizeable 84 song list that is on the RB2 disc. Unfortunately, no signs of the free songs were seen after the Xbox 360 launch of the game almost a month ago.

Until last week, that is.

MTV Games and Harmonix has finally opened the sign-up site to redeem the 20-song free offer. Buyers of RB2 will be required to enter the redemption code that is found on the back of the game manual along with their email address and date of birth.

No announcements have been made as of yet regarding when the songs will be made available or what the songs will be but the opening of the site is a good enough way to quell the impatience of RB2 owners.

Shopping for a new guitar controller

I’ve been on a self-imposed hiatus from my Rock Band adventure because my guitar controller got broken. Instead of immediately springing for another guitar controller, I just decided to wait for the arrival of both the Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour instruments. Unfortunately, since the PS3 versions will only be released middle to late October I’ll have to be game-free for the next few weeks.

The self-imposed hiatus will be a good time for me to really examine which guitar controller to buy. Of course, I’m not going to get controllers for both games. My plan is to get the best controller and buy the bundle for that game. Then I’ll just buy the solo game for the other title. My dilemma now is deciding which controller to buy. I’m getting confused choosing between the RB2 or GHWT controllers.

What do you guys think? Which controller do you think is the best one?

Rock Band 2 achievements revealed

Rock Band 2 is set to be released in approximately a month. This early though, the achievements for the game has already been released, giving gamers a ready template or map of what needs to be done to gain the much coveted achievements for the game.

I’m guessing that these achievements are not only for the Xbox 360 but also for the PS3’s trophy system.
