Though plenty of new puzzles have come from the house of Rubik since the Cube, there’s no denying it still holds a special place in the heart of geeks and enthusiasts. For that reason, and for the joy of combining the Rubik’s Cube with robotics, we present CubeStormer from RoboticSolutions. The claim is that this Lego Mindstorms RCX Speedcubing Robot can solve any 33 in under twelve seconds. The video shows this: I’m happy to take their word on the machine being handed random cubes. A couple of days ago the latest puzzle from Rubik arrived on the scene. Professor Erno Rubik explains. “The Rubik’s 360 is one of the most innovative and exciting puzzles we’ve developed since the Cube – adopting elements of my original design, challenging the solver to use concentration, skill and dexterity. But it’s a more kinetic challenge, more physical, because gravity is involved.” The object of the puzzle is to move six colored balls into their appropriate holes by spinning the puzzle around.
