With the stunning sales figures of many of the DCnU  first issues, minds no doubt turn towards how the industry can sustain this momentum? As I have said before, I have doubts as to how many of these sales are likely to be new readers, although I imagine by far the largest segment of these extra sales will be returning readers. Microsoft bugging Best Buy sales staff to talk down Linux

Why are we not surprised at reports that the software giant is trying to discourage customers who may have heard of Linux and dare to challenge the sales staff at Best Buy, claiming that it’s difficult to install and use? Of course, Microsoft has been dissing Macs for a long time, mainly on the basis that they’re too expensive. Thing is, it’s hard to do that with Linux, given that it will run on exactly the same hardware (and in fact, less powerful hardware, too) as Windows bloated OS, and yet is available for free.
