Superheroes in a Drop of Water

Batman in a Drop of Water

Earlier this month, I discovered a photographer whose work stopped me in my tracks. Even the most jaded of people might even agree with me in saying that German photographer Marcus Reugels stands above the rest with his photographs. The work that caught my attention features drops of water refracting the earth, or at least part of it. One look at that, and you have to admit that this guy is absolutely brilliant! He has other photos along similar lines, but I think you might appreciate two of his recent pieces even more. How about a couple of superheroes in a drop of water? Well, technically, it is not the Read more »

Etsy Find: Geeky Crayons

Etsy Find: Geeky Crayons

You have got to love sites like Etsy, which provide an outlet for people to express their geekiness creativity and allow them to make money while they’re at it. While some things may tend to be on the pricey side, I do like to check out Etsy for interesting stuff. Here’s something worth your while. As the guy who submitted the link to Reddit said, “If you love Star Wars and you have children, you practically owe it to them to buy these.” These Star Wars Crayons may be the ones that got my attention in the first place, but after browsing through the shop, I found some other cool Read more »

Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark Preview Night Falls Apart

I’ve been bitching and moaning about Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, the Spidey musical from U2 founders Bono and The Edge for the last month, mostly due to a bad first song preview and costume designs that left me baffled. Well if the very expensive to produce Broadway show ends up at all like the first preview night the rumors and my assertions were definitely warranted. The NY Post and NY Times attended the show and here are just a few of the issues they witnessed: NY POST: The show had to be stopped four times in the first act alone for various snags. NY POST: As the character [Arachne], Read more »

A British boy genius named Hibiki Kono has transformed himself into a real-life wall-crawler. So enraptured of Spider-Man was 13-year-old Kono that he constructed a device that allows him to scale walls by crawling up them. Entirely on his own, he spent five months working on a gadget that connects two vacuum cleaners to a pair of “giant suckerpads,” which uses tremendous suction power to allow him to cling to walls. It appears to work on walls of all kinds, even brick. The only caveat for the machine’s use is that it’s powered by a regular electrical cord plugged into a wall outlet, so it can only go as high Read more »

Superheroes Solve World War II

Superheroes Solve World War II

I know that this is not totally new but while I have imported some entries from my former ‘geek’ blog to FG, I thought this deserved to be highlighted more than just being there, in the archives. Deviant art member TOYIB has published his image edit, catapulting some of our most loved loved super heroes in to WWII situations. Although he only upped some pictures so far, the results are impressive and it would be awesome to see even more heroes than just Batman, Spiderman, Superman and Darth Vader in WWII situations. Superman at Neuschwanstein, Cologne (D) in 1945. Read more »
