What if Star Trek‘s Borg had created the LEGO brand? That’s where my mind goes when I look at this striking construction by LEGO builder Lukáš Šógor. (A second pic taken from a different angle is below.) He describes his piece as “Future LEGO,” but to me, it screams Borg. Don’t know about you, but the Borg cliffhanger episode where Captain Picard was assimilated is one of those geek moments that’s etched in my mind forever. I still remember where I was when that cliffhanger, “The Best of Both Worlds,” first aired. This train wreck defies explanation, but here’s what I can tell you: take the theme song to Star Trek: The Next Generation, and add a singing Trekkie, in uniform — with lyrics he wrote himself. His voice is actually pretty decent. Watch for the toy Enterprise cameo that’s oh-so-realistic. It’s because of people like this that geeks are such a clichéd punchline.
