8 Game of Thrones Characters to Watch Out For in Season 2

Game of Thrones Week

The second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones is fast approaching, and I bet that you are also on the edge of your seat waiting for it. To get us all worked up even more, we have dubbed this week as Game of Thrones Week – as you may already have noticed with Robin’s Westerosian breakfast post. In line with that, I thought I’d list down some of the Game of Thrones characters to watch out for in season 2. As they say, everyone’s going to die at some point anyway, so might as well pay attention to them now. [Possible spoiler alert!] Daenerys Targaryen There is no doubt about Read more »

Every Doctor Who Episode in 10 Minutes

Every Doctor Who Episode in 10 Minutes

How many episodes of Doctor Who have you actually seen? By episodes, I am referring not only to the sixth series, but to every Doctor Who episode dating from the first time the TV show aired. I was introduced to this addictive show only last year, and even now, I have not seen all the episode in the latest series. Then again, I have this thing about not having time to sit down and watch TV series completely. Anyhow, there is so much to the TV series that I think a lot of people have not seen every Doctor Who episode that has been made. There are, of course, the Read more »

Game of Thrones Minimalist Posters

House Stark

How fares your Game of Thrones addiction? Has it waned after weeks and weeks of no new episodes, or has it gotten even stronger because of your desire to see more? Have you turned to reading the books after discovering this wonderful thing of a story? (I am sure George R.R. Martin is appreciating the boost in book sales right now. I think I even saw new versions of the books tied to the HBO series.) I am back to re-reading the books, although it slow going for me. While I will recommend the books every time, I have to admit there are parts that drag on. But you get Read more »

Game of Thrones Flowchart: Would You Survive in the Seven Kingdoms?

Game of Thrones Flowchart: Would You Survive in the Seven Kingdoms?

The characters all die. Would you make it if you got dumped in the middle of the Seven Kingdoms? Don’t get me wrong – I love this series, but I have never denied the fact that every reading makes me depressed because all the “good” ones die. Even the “bad” ones with “good” sides die. They all die. Still, I think it’s merely a representation of real life – sooner or later we’ll all die, albeit not in such dramatic or grisly ways as George R.R. Martin’s characters do. Anyhow, the season finale of HBO’s Game of Thrones is this weekend. Can you believe that? I need to catch up Read more »

HBO’s Game of Thrones: Not Your Ordinary “Boy Fiction”

HBO’s Game of Thrones: Not Your Ordinary “Boy Fiction”

HBO’s Game of Thrones is definitely not fit for viewing during the Lent, but I have been putting it off for a while now – well several days – and I figured there’s no better time to watch it than now. I have been raving about George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series ever since I finished the first book. Much like any fan of the books, I had also been waiting for the series to actually air. Before I got to watch the pilot, though, I had the pleasure – or displeasure – of reading a review at The New York Times. I have to be Read more »

M.A.S.K. LEGO

M.A.S.K. LEGO

Have you ever heard of M.A.S.K.? No, that was not a typo – it has nothing to do with M*A*S*H. M.A.S.K. stands for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, and was an animated TV series aired way back in the 80s. It was directed by Japanese studios and produced by a French-American company. M.A.S.K. was influenced by the then popular G.I. Joe and Transformers – or rather, the still popular G.I. Joe and Transformers. To be honest, this is the first time that I have heard of M.A.S.K. but the cartoon seems to be gaining some attention decades later, thanks to LEGO. I stumbled upon a blog featuring LEGO models of M.A.S.K. Read more »

New Song of Ice and Fire Figures!

New Song of Ice and Fire Figures!

I’m such a sucker for George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series, and I am definitely one of those waiting eagerly for the April debut of HBO’s TV series based on the book. Normally, I have misgivings about my favorite books being turned into TV series and movies, but with Martin himself being very active in the production, the series should live up to many a fan’s expectations. He’s also been active in promoting derivative works related to his series, including figures from Dark Sword Miniatures. Earlier today, George R.R. Martin published a note on Facebook, leaking images of the newest batch of miniatures from the series. I Read more »

Propworx Launches Caprica Memorabilia Auction

Propworx Launches Caprica Memorabilia Auction

Did you know that in Canada, they continued showing the final episodes of Caprica last year? There I was, patiently (trying to be patient actually) waiting for months till US TV picked up the series again, only to find out that they had aired the series anyway. In any case, the information comes too late for me as – here’s even sadder news – SyFy rolled out the last five episodes of Caprica last night. Read more »

The Avengers Meet Community

The Avengers Meet Community

What’s the latest TV series that is taking up all your time? I don’t watch a lot of TV, but one word has been recurring in my Twitter stream in the past month or so: Community. If the people I follow are to be believed, it could very well be the best series on TV today. I haven’t had the chance to watch it, but if there are any Community fans among you guys, you’ll have a kick out of this mashup. Read more »

Battlestar Galactica: The Exhibition

Battlestar Galactica: The Exhibition

If you ever needed a reason to pay Seattle a visit, here is one: Experience Music Project|Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame (EMP|SFM). To be honest, I had never heard of them till this morning. (How wonderful is the Internet?) The museum has a two-fold goal. EMP focuses on popular music – the creativity and innovation behind it, while SFM focuses on science fiction in various media. Needless to say, their exhibits are bliss for science fiction fans. Read more »
