In my part of the world, this commercialized “holiday” is over for most people. To be honest, I was overwhelmed by the degree of enthusiasm I observed tonight. People in this city really do take Valentine’s Day seriously! I don’t know if you do celebrate this “Hallmark holiday”, but here is something I discovered over the weekend. I got the best Valentine’s gift ever – a web site about everyone’s favorite food: BACON! Dubbed Republic of Bacon, this site is all that bacon lovers need, really. I have to warn you though – do not visit if you will have problems getting your hand on some bacon. The moment I Read more »

You’ll Never Want Any Other NERF Gun
Political correctness may warrant the avoidance of toy guns and other similar objects, but sometimes, you need to ignore being PC in order to have fun. In any case, when it comes to guns, I don’t think NERF guns are offensive at all. The story of NERF guns dates back to 1970 when Hasbro released “the world’s first official indoor ball” and the rest, as they say, is history. Toy guns may come and go, but NERF will always have a special place in our hearts. Now what if you can have your very own custom-made NERF gun? What did they find out? Jeff Bertolucci of PC World narrates: The survey by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) shows that 81 percent of the Academy’s members in the Read more »
Modern Valentine's Card has Disney video player inside
Now that Christmas and the New Year are over, the next interesting “festival” for many is that of Valentine’s Day. In our roundup of five Valentine’s Day gifts for your geek we featured Hallmark’s Valentine’s Day cards featuring sound. That’s fairly old hat now, so three years on and Hallmark has upped its game by creating a limited edition video card that plays some of Disney’s most famous screen kisses. No, it’s not a YouTube link or a card sent by email. This is a real card which contains a small video screen on which the romantic video is played. Here’s the rub: in the UK, just 1,500 of these Read more »
Sony to produce game/movie BD hybrid
It was bound to happen. With Sony now enjoying the fact that blu-ray won the format wars and with the sales of the Playstation 3 and the PSP beginning to plateau, it was a natural progression for the company to find ways help synergize all of its products to help one another. So it comes as no surprise that Sony has announced that it will be exploiting the large capacity of Blu-ray discs to produce hybrid content BDs that contain not only a movie but also a game version of the said movie. We all know that movies are increasingly being licensed for game versions (just don’t expect a Revolutionary Read more »
