It has been nearly 11 months since the Tohoku earthquake that shook Japan and damaged the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, but recovery efforts are still ongoing and relief organizations are still seeking donations. Doing their part to help, figure manufacturers Max Factory and Good Smile Company have released a series of “Cheerful Japan” figures, in which a portion of the profits is donated to relief efforts. Nendoroids at the Summer 2011 Wonder Festival
Every summer and winter, there is an event called the Wonder Festival in Tokyo, which showcases anime figures from various makers. While the event was originally meant for amateur figure sculptors to show off and sell their work, it has since been taken over by large figure manufacturers wanting to advertise their line-up of new products. New BRS Figures at Wonfes W2010
The winter 2010 Wonder Festival took place in Tokyo on February 7. Also known as Wonfes, the event is geared towards figure collectors (and makers) of various anime, mecha, and sci-fi series. Every year, thousands of people line up to get a chance to buy limited edition figures that aren’t sold anywhere else, but Wonfes also gives a chance for figure manufacturers to showcase their new and upcoming products.
