Best Tree Topper Ever?

Best Tree Topper Ever?

It’s that time of year: time to string up the lights, deck the halls, and all that jazz. So when you’re picking out the family tree (or putting together the artificial — hey, no judgment here, my family uses a fake every year) and considering the most optimum placement of your decorations, I humbly submit what may be the geekiest tree topper of all time: Master Yoda. Steampunk Star Wars

Steampunk Star Wars

You don’t have to be a steampunk fan to adore these incredible reimaginings of your favorite Star Wars characters by artist Bjorn Hurri. And by “your favorite characters,” I of course mean “original trilogy characters.” To call Hurri’s work “fan art” is a gross misconception. These beautifully detailed illustrations belong in a fine art collection. In Hurri’s steampunk world, Boba Fett is a wiry, bug-like character with an elaborate jetpack that leaks fuel. C-3PO is as fussy as ever, but his red necktie indicates he’s a low-level worker of some kind. Han Solo is a pipe-chewing, bowler hat and pinstripe-wearing rogue with mutton chops and fancy specs. Watch, you must

You are about to see geeky viral marketing at its very best. These two videos showcase Yoda and Darth Vader recording lines for new Star Wars-themed TomTom Voices. (TomTom is a GPS navigator system.) And the result, as I said before, is pure brilliance. What’s most surprising about these mixed characters is how easily and logically they come together. It only reinforces the fact that everyone at Pixar is a Star Wars fan, and the archetypal characters in George Lucas’ original trilogy have had tremendous influences on just about every piece of genre fiction of the last three decades. For example, Sillof combines WALL-E with R2-D2 to Read more »

Outfit Your Office – Lightsaber Nightlight

Outfit Your Office – Lightsaber Nightlight

I’m always looking for cool things for my house. See, as an adult male this pains me to say this, but I’m just gonna go ahead and do it. I watch MTV’s Teen Cribs. I know, that’s retarded. But these kids have crazy houses with crazy stuff in them, and I like to see what kind of stuff they come up with. Whether it’s an in-house bowling alley, or a nutty tree house. I love that stuff, but I understand that it makes me a horrible person. Now I don’t make $5 billion a year – just $2.5 billion, sorry – so I take the things that I see on Read more »
