Matters of Grey came up with ten creative designs for cutting out paper snowflakes that incorporate Star Wars characters like Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Yoda, R2-D2, and more. The really ingenious ones are the snowflakes with Empire characters, because they have the Imperial logo in the center.

The website provides downloadable PDFs you can print out and use as templates for cutting out your own Star Wars snowflakes. They recommend using an Exacto Knife to cut them, since the designs are rather intricate. Personally, I’d love to see an Emperor snowflake added to the mix, or maybe a Millennium Falcon design. A Death Star design seems like a no-brainer, too.

A few more of their designs are shown below, but hit the Matters of Grey website to see them all and download the patterns.

Jabba the Hutt is a morbidly obese blob, forced to get around on his own steam-powered chariot that’s sagging heavily under his bulk.

The following pieces are just sketches and are even marked as “works in progress,” so they’ll no doubt go through some refinement before he posts the final versions. I’m particularly intrigued by his interpretation of Luke’s lightsaber.

He’s still adding to his portfolio, so there should be even more of these to come. Hopefully he’ll get to them sooner than later, ’cause I’m dying to see his interpretation of Darth Vader.

Perhaps inspired by the just-released Toy Story 3 (haven’t seen it yet, don’t spoil it for me) an artist going by the moniker “Sillof” has mashed up Star Wars with Pixar‘s library of characters. And the result, as I said before, is pure brilliance.

What’s most surprising about these mixed characters is how easily and logically they come together. It only reinforces the fact that everyone at Pixar is a Star Wars fan, and the archetypal characters in George Lucas’ original trilogy have had tremendous influences on just about every piece of genre fiction of the last three decades.

For example, Sillof combines WALL-E with R2-D2 to create “WALL-D2,” my personal favorite. Then there’s “Darth Zurg,” which is based on Buzz Lightyear’s nemesis. “Obi-Wan Carlobi” mixes Carl from Up with the Alec Guinness character. Woody’s transformation into Han Solo is a no-brainer. And “Yodawski” is particularly inspired — Yoda crossed with Monsters, Inc.‘s Mike Wozawski.

There are eleven mashup characters in all; see Sillof’s full gallery here.

I’m always looking for cool things for my house. See, as an adult male this pains me to say this, but I’m just gonna go ahead and do it. I watch MTV’s Teen Cribs. I know, that’s retarded. But these kids have crazy houses with crazy stuff in them, and I like to see what kind of stuff they come up with. Whether it’s an in-house bowling alley, or a nutty tree house. I love that stuff, but I understand that it makes me a horrible person.

Now I don’t make $5 billion a year – just $2.5 billion, sorry – so I take the things that I see on Cribs and try to figure out how to integrate them into a house that I can afford. Someday, I’m going to have a game room again, with stuff just dedicated to my geeky and nerdy habits. I’m a Star Wars guy, so I love finding Star Wars related items for the home. Like this one.

It’s a Lightsaber Nightlight, and it just mounts on the wall. It’s controlled by a remote control, so if you want to project a Darth Vader vibe in the room, go with red. Or maybe you’re watching a Samuel L. Jackson marathon and want to get all Mace Windu on your room. Go purple. It’s all possible, and looks pretty cool to begin with.

Right now the light is just $24.99, and it’s going to arrive later this year. But if you want to be the first, you can pre order one now. Of course you can just wait until they’re released in stores, but what fun is that?

It isn’t all iPhone though, apparently the Google Android platform seems to be popular too and how better to show off your preferred mobile platform than by wearing this Android hoodie?
I am aware of that this list isn’t complete at all, but now you should now what t-shirts most geeks love. I have left the binary classic There are only 10 kind of people… out on person because I can think of at least 10 people who don’t understand it but have that shirt. Suck it!

Also watch out for our upcoming Valentine Gifts for Your Geek special next week.
