A New Alan Wake Game is Coming

Despite the image above… Remedy Entertainment says not to call their new game Alan Wake 2.

They’re working on a new project that furthers the story of the criminally underplayed Alan Wake. Just what that new project is, they’re not saying, but they will say that it’s not DLC for the first game, and it’s not going to be called Alan Wake 2.

What they are saying is that an official announcement is forthcoming, most likely around E3 in June. Word about a new Wake game was leaked by Joystiq before Remedy was ready to announce it. But being the troopers that they are, Remedy rolled with it, and wrote in to explain that the game is real, but it’s not what anyone’s expecting. The Finnish developer pointed out that this new game will be accessible to both fans and newcomers.

Remedy also revealed that no release details have been finalized yet, but that “Fall 2011 is probably a good guess.” It’s unknown if the new game will be an Xbox/Windows exclusive like the first one was, but if so, then the announcement is likely to happen during Microsoft’s media briefing that takes place just before E3 begins.

Hmm. So if it’s “not Alan Wake 2,” then what do you suppose it is?
