Allofmp3.com is shut down, again
Before Apple introduced it’s DRM-free tracks, Allofmp3.com was one of the best websites to acquire DRM-free files, and for an incredibly cheap price. Although the business model was questioned many times, and people thought to themselves that it simply couldn’t be legal to sell tracks for 10 to 20 cents, the site remained up and worked perfectly up until now.
According to an employee, the site has been closed by Russian authorities, because it threatened Russia’s entry in the World Trade Organization. But, as always, with any site that distributes material illegally, a new “allofmp3” has popped up, under the name of Mp3Sparks.com that sells tracks at 15 cents.
I wonder when the authorities will realize that shutting down an illegal website is like playing the Whack-A-Mole game. You may take it down, but others will emerge right beside it.
