Another Weird Gaming Supplement...

Well, it seems that there are simply more and more of these coming out.  Originally, the gamer diet for a long session consisted of pizza, coke (you need the caffeine right) and coffee plus snacks throughout the day and night.  Now however, things are getting a little more interesting.

We’ve moved from the gamer using Red Bull for instance to stay awake for their marathon gaming sessions, and we’ve reached a whole new level.  If you’re in the UK (or if you can read Japanese) you might want to consider Game Suppli if you’re an avid gamer.

Kyowa-Yakuhin produces two different supplements for the “Game Suppli” range: blueberry tablets that are good for the eyes and other capsules containing Docosahexaenoic acid, a fatty acid that supposedly enhances concentration.  I work in supplementation myself and I’m not sure I’ve seen evidence to the effect of DHA improving concentration levels, but it should be good for the brain.

If you’re really that desperate to pull off a long gaming session, I have a much better suggestion than these tablets (even if you might want to try them for novelty value), and that is to get a good nights sleep before hand, take supplements with natural DHA (such as fish oil supplements) if you think they’ll help and have on hand plenty of healthy snacks including fruit and vegetables.  All these should help you keep you on top of your game, whatever it may be.  They’ll also be safer than some rather odd concoction…
