Apple to bring new features to iPhone and Apple TV for free
One of the latest announcements, which cost Apple some of it’s “street credibility”, was the announcement that it would have to charge it’s consumers the small charge of $1.99 to update the drivers of their Wifi network cards so they could support the newest protocol. Which is something that Apple didn’t want to do, or at least that is the general opinion.
This time however, Apple won’t be making the same mistake, therefore both the Apple TV and the iPhone will continue to see new support, and new features, even after their release.
Apple will manage to do that through a subscription model that will guarantee new updates for the 24 months following the purchase of the product.
This doesn’t mean that Apple will allow third party software on their beloved little cellphone, but with extensibility options, I think that it might be one step closer to that.
