It’s been in development for over three years and teased hundreds of times, but LucasArts and BioWare have finally announced a release date for Star Wars The Old Republic, their groundbreaking MMO. At the 2011 Eurogamer Expo in London, BioWare’s founders made it official: TOR will be here just (barely) in time for Christmas.

At long last, American players be able to get our grubby little fingers on Star Wars The Old Republic on December 20, 2011. European players must wait two more days for launch on December 22. Purchasing the game will entitle you to a 30-day subscription, and then you’ll need to sign up for a subscription plan. These will come in three flavors:

  • 1 Month: $14.99
  • 3 Months: $13.99/mo.
  • 6 Months: $12.99/mo.

That’s it. No “annual subscription” or “lifetime membership” options at present. If you pre-order the game now, you’ll get a special pre-order code that you can enter at the game’s official website, qualifying you for early access to the game.
