Beautifully Designed Geek Websites

Have you ever thought of starting your own blog or website? Sure, it’s not like we need another geek website out there, with all the sites we already can’t cover on a daily basis. Still, having your own blog, which features the things you are passionate about is something that can be an outlet for you. It can make you money, there is that, but I think it’s even more interesting to have a site that gives you pleasure just because.

If you are looking to create a website, and you are lacking inspiration regarding design, here are some of the more beautifully designed geek websites out there. Unashamedly, I am going to say that ForeverGeek is not included in the list because it’s a given. ;)

Oh, and be warned – LARGE images for you to enjoy, so be ready to do a lot of scrolling.

The abundance of white space makes the first of our geek websites a pleasure to read, and the header does catch your attention. It also allows you to scroll through their featured pieces. The whole design looks really good, and the touch of color that “GeekNation” brings at the top of the page is subtle, but has a positive effect.

Oh, and you may hate Comic Sans, but I suggest you read this: How I Learned to Love Comic Sans. (You’re welcome, btw.)

Geek Art

Geek Art is a perfect example of how to showcase images, and it’s a perfect design fit for the theme of the site. Its header rotates featured posts, while the right sidebar still gives you a little breathing space. As for the main part of the page, all you see is art, art, and more art.

Beautiful Web Type

Now if you’re the type to geek out over beautiful web type, then this site will give you the inspiration you want – and more. The site is all about the best typefaces from the Google web fonts directory, and more than the beautiful web types, the play on colors and space makes for a pleasant viewing experience.

Geek Tyrant

Geek Tyrant is one of the better known geek websites today, and for good reason. They do have a great collection of articles, and they’re always on the ball. As for the design, does it look familiar? Being the site they are, the emphasis on images suits them perfectly.

Den of Geek

Den of Geek is also not unknown when it comes to geek websites, and they recently redesigned, so I thought I’d add them to this list. There is something to be said about the upper part of the homepage, and how much content readers can access in one glance – including snippets, so you know what you’re getting into – but I have to be honest and say I am not convinced with the fonts used. Still, this looks pretty darned good.

So there you have the geek websites we think are rather nice to look at – and read, of course. What do you think of our selection?
