Chocolate Baby Heads and Disturbing Cakes From the Conjurer's Kitchen
It’s not everyday that you get to see cakes and chocolate creations that just make your stomach turn. Especially not for us who love sweets and can’t resist a bite (or two or three) of most any cake.
Annabel de Vetten has changed all that for me, and the chances are that you’re going to have a stomach of steel to not react viscerally to her creations. Annabel calls herself the Cake Conjurer and her “home”, the Conjurer’s Kitchen. Lest you think that her work focuses on fantastical elements, it’s more about people making her creations disappear as if by magic. That goes to show how one should not judge a cake by it’s design!
The Conjurer’s Kitchen has got a lot of cakes to show off, but here’s one recent creation that really, really creeps me out. Take a look at these life-sized chocolate baby heads. They were made for a client, and they’re solid white chocolate. ((Via Evil Cakehead))
The one time I think I’ll say no (emphatically) to chocolate. Any takers?
The Conjurer’s Kitchen also has something for anatomy students or enthusiasts.
I am neither. Impressive, this cake is as well. I just really wish the Conjurer didn’t make that eye so freaky!
Now add a bit of zombie touchwith the marshmallow brain. This would be a perfect dessert for next year’s Halloween party. ((There’s nothing wrong in thinking ahead. Way ahead.))
There are quite a few more anatomical cakes in the Conjurer’s repertoire, so I suggest taking a look at her gallery. And in case you’ve been turned off by the awesomely freaky pictures above – that is not my intention – you also ought to know that “real” cakes are made in the Kitchen!
