Note: In reality, there are around 40 upcoming superhero films throughout the year 2020. However, this list is based on our personal, most anticipated movies.
Believe it or not, superhero movies are still in their infancy, as Hollywood has many more characters to explore over the next several years. Thanks to successes such as Iron Man and The Man of Steel, DC Comics and Marvel have no immediate plans to end their streak of fantastic, eye-popping hero flicks.
The following comic book movie release dates range from 2015 all the way through 2018.
Avengers: Age of Ultron
May 1; Marvel Studios
The first one was a hit, breaking box office records that helped set new standards for comic book films of all genres. Expect to get another taste of the Avengers this coming May 1st with a lot more action, drama, and the occasional laughs that only Tony Stark can deliver.
The Fantastic Four
August 17; 20th Century Fox/Marvel Studios
Century Fox and Marvel Studios are purposely keeping a tight lip with this movie, which is rather odd considering that hype tends to drive sales. Needless to say, we can’t wait to see what these guys bring to the table, since their last movies were not particularly welcomed among fans.
July 17; Marvel Studios
It’s difficult to say what to expect from this movie, considering Ant-Man is not exactly the most popular superhero. Nevertheless, we have a lot of faith that he can deliver the goods with his strange but very unique ability to shrink and super size.
February 12; 20th Century Fox
We got a glimpse of deadpool im the last Wolverine movie back in 2009. He was mysterious, and quite frankly, a bit of a douche, but for good reason. Considering he was a bit of a kickass anti-hero in that film, we hope to see the same character but with a bit of feeling in between.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
March 25, Warner Bros/DC Comics
Everyone has waited for this moment for many years now, going back well over a decade. After many rumors and false promises, producers are finally stepping up the plate and will satisfy long-time fans. 2016 looks like a very promising year for geeks of all shapes and sizes, and we couldn’t be happier.
June 23; Warner Bros/DC Comics
Have you noticed that most comic book films are predominantly run by men? From Batman to Superman to Iron Man, it seems that the industry could use a bit more variety. For this sole reason, we are very excited to see Wonder Woman kick some butt in 2017. After all, she hasn’t been too lucky as of late, having a series plot promptly rejected by television networks with no concrete plans in sight.
Justice League: Part One
November 17; Sony Pictures/DC Comics
The Justice League is the equivalent of The Avengers, or at least that’s what we’re desperately hoping. DC Comics has some big shoes to fill if they expect to leave any sort of lasting impression, considering the superb splash its rival made back in 2012.
March 23/ Warner Bros/DC Comics
The above trailer from the CW series shows you the potential that this movie could bring us. Now DC Comics is experimenting with a feature length film featuring the popular and charismatic man in red. We still don’t know what to expect from the movie, as nobody has yet provided important details on the plot. That said, you can expect all the greatness that said TV show is delivering, plus a lot more on a much bigger budget.
Superhero films are making a splash both on the silver screen and on the small screen, giving us a lot to look forward to over the next several years. Which of these comic book movie release dates are you impatiently waiting for?
