Comic-Con Ticket Sales Crash Computer Systems, Ticket Buying Halted

Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego may not arrive until July 21st but that didn’t stop ticket buyers today from flooding the company with so many requests for tickets that went on sale that they crashed the company’s ticketing system.

Tickets went on sale Monday morning, however the ticketing system soon crashed and resulted in the following message on the Comic-Con website:

“Only a handful of badges were actually sold today.”

Ticket sales were halted indefinitely after the system went down,  a new registration will need to be announced. The company’s website said of the ticket closing:

“We are really sorry for the problems with registration today,” adding,   “We do not know what the technical issues are, so we have temporarily closed registration.”

Ticket sales are so popular at Comic-Con that the 2011 4-day passes with preview night sold out during Comic-Con 2010.

According to the Comic-Con website, they will announce a new ticket sales day on November 8th:

“We will announce on Monday November 8th the new date and time that registration will reopen,” and  “This down time will allow us to determine and address the issues.”

Were you one of the lucky people to get a ticket before the system died?
