The Wonderful World of Cosplay at WonderCon Anaheim 2018

For many, WonderCon Anaheim is a snapshot of that moment at San Diego Comic-Con before it went REALLY big. Don’t get me wrong. WonderCon is still massive. It’s held at the Anaheim Convention Center, just steps from Disneyland, and commands a massive crowd of tens of thousands from around the world seeking to enjoy a big con without having to fight to the death for tickets months in advance. Sure, the show did eventually sell out all of its tickets, but it’s still in that sweet spot of being more easily accessible while still playing host to a lot of the fun that its sister show in San Diego offers up every summer.

WonderCon Anaheim 2018 cosplay - the 501st and other Star Wars cosplayers Between panels featuring the cast of the Legion M (fan owned and produced) movie “Bad Samaritan”, the creators going behind the scenes on “Star Trek Discovery”, “Fear the Walking Dead”, or “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD”, fans got to meet their favorite stars at special signings or snatch up a signed comic from iconic comic book legends or personal sketches from comic creator talents of the future, eager to show off their self-produced projects. And like all good comic shows, there was no end to the rows and rows of booths ready and willing to sell you every collectible bauble under the sun, rare or otherwise.

But there wasn’t anywhere you could go within the expansive exhibition hall or outside between the food trucks without seeing people in costume. The cosplayers brought their A game to WonderCon Anaheim this year, culminating in the Saturday night Masquerade, where some of the most creative cosplayers showed off their best costumes for an enthusiastic crowd before walking home with armloads of prizes.

So here’s just a sampling of some of our favorite cosplayers at WonderCon Anaheim 2018, as we love to share every year. Maybe you’ll find yourself among these talented folks. If so, let us know in the comments. And if not, let us know who your favorites are below.
