Saw an amazing video today on LaughingSquid that actually made me sit back and think. I know that in itself should not be remarkable, but I will tell you why it is. Because the modern web is all about funny videos and outrage and instant gratification, so to get a video that actually feels humane and sends a strong message is pretty remarkable in a landscape filled with kitten and lip syncing videos. Especially considering the video itself is about the internet and how it has made uniform hate a thing of mass acceptance, which it should never be.
The creator is an artist named Luiz Stockler, and the piece has been resonating with the people who have seen it. His site is really cool and if you have a minute, pop over and check out some of his other work. In this particular case, he nails that feeling of being hated on just for having an opinion and how the social media world has turned us into perpetual victims (as long as we allow it).
It is unique and something many of you will relate to, so watch and share it. There is not a person online right now who would not relate to this on some level. And enough with the cat videos. Really. It has been like ten years strong now. Let’s start an intellectual age again.
Well, an intellectual age that still appreciates a good kitten video now and then sounds perfect, actually.
