Christmas is all about sugar and spice and everything nice, but why not add a little more spice to it – geeky spice?
Any sci-fi enthusiast will have read Frank Herbert’s Dune at least once and will know any reference to it. If you’ve got sci-fi geeks in the family, then you absolutely have to add this Spice-stuffed Sandworm Bread to the Christmas dinner menu.
If you don’t have the chops to concoct delectable creations in the kitchen, don’t worry. Thanks to Kitchen Overload, you can follow step-by-step instructions to make the Spice-stuffed Sandworm Bread.
SANDWORM DOUGH:
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 tbsp yeast
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp cinnamon
3 eggs
¼ cup slightly cooled melted butter
2 tsp salt
6 ½ – 7 cups bread flourSPICE FILLING:
2 tbsp garam masala (or pumpkin pie spice, or Chinese five spice powder, as preferred in your sietch)
2 tsp cinnamon
3/4 cup brown sugar (or 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup white sugar if you want it less sticky)
1/4 cup melted butter
sliced blanched almonds
1/2 cup raisins (optional)GLAZE:
3/4 – 1 cup powdered sugar
¼ cup water (reduce to 1-2 tbsp for an extra thick glaze)
1 tsp cinnamon or garama masala
1 tsp vanilla extract
