Fandom Friday: Doctor Who Christmas Special 2014

While most people look forward to Christmas Day because of gifts and feasting, Doctor Who fans are on the edge of their seats because of the Doctor Who Christmas Special. Since the franchise was revived in 2005, December 25 has taken on a different meaning for devoted Doctor Who fans.
This year, Doctor Who Christmas Special seems to be even more special mainly due to the hints that it may be the last time that the Doctor and Clara will be together. With the title “Doctor Who – Last Christmas”, one can’t help but wonder about the wording. It can mean the previous Christmas, or it can mean the last Christmas that the Doctor and his companion will spend with each other.
In November, the BBC released a teaser trailer for this year’s Christmas Special, which of course we devoured.
Whovians have been all over Twitter, expressing their anticipation.
IDK what I'm more excited about: giving everyone their Xmas gifts or seeing the #doctorwhochristmas special. I'm leaning towards #DoctorWho

I bet you feel the same, don’t you?

Think so? He sure is better than Evil Santas!
And, of course, there is the plea for Jenna Coleman to stay.
@Jenna_Coleman_ Return. Don't leave. It's not called companionship for nothing. #DoctorWhoChristmas #DoctorWho pic.twitter.com/ECl0U3bhuV

This week, some uber lucky people were treated to a special screening of the Doctor Who Christmas Special, and based on what those people are saying, I think we’re all in for a more exciting Christmas than usual.
The Mirror’s review offers a nice promise:
Many people doze after their Christmas dinner but this episode should ensure sweet dreams for most Who fans.
As for Jenna staying or not…The guys at Metro were part of that special screening, and based on their interview of Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman, and Steven Moffat. When the question about Clara came up (of course it had to), this is the only thing we can hold on to:
Much has been made of the fate of Clara in Doctor Who, but you will have to wait until the big day on December 25 at 6.15pm on BBC One to find out if Jenna Coleman will be staying in the TARDIS for more fun with Peter Capaldi.
I say bah-humbug!
While we wait impatiently for the Doctor Who Christmas Special 2014, here’s a supercut of the Top 5 Christmas Specials.
This is a biased list, of course, but what do you think? What Christmas Special do you think is the best?
