Firefox 2 Beta 2 Released

The latest milestone in everyone’s favorite open-source browser has been reached. Beta 2 of Firefox 2 is among us, and with it I’ve decided to abandon Firefox 1.5 and start using it.

There are many features which I still haven’t uncovered, but overall, it’s safe to say that Firefox has been given a small face lift, and updated to work better with RSS and the Web in general.

My favorite feature so far is the built-in spell checker. Now I don’t have to copy-paste every article / comment / post I write to GMail and use it’s spell checker because Firefox does it for me.

Among other visible changes, there is now an “X” button on every tab, and the focused tab is now better differentiated from the others. There is also a new button at the end of the tabs row which by clicking allows you to choose which tab you want to open (useful when you have too many tabs open and can’t read the titles)

If your an RSS lover like myself, you’ll be happy to know that now you aren’t forced to add RSS files to your live bookmarks when you click on the icon in Firefox. Now you can choose which program or web application to use the RSS in.
