Firefox Usage Still On The Increase
WebSideStory has released it’s April Browser Stats, which show Firefox is still increasing its market share while Internet Explorer continues its downward spiral, dropping another percentage point.
Our data shows that Firefox continues to show strong usage growth on the web, climbing to nearly 7 percent as of April 29, 2005. Since early Nov. 2005, Firefox’s usage share on the web has more than doubled. Given its current growth patterns, Firefox is well on its way to reaching – and even surpassing – 10 percent market share in the U.S. in 2005.
In a years time, IE browser usage has fallen from about 95% to just under 89%. While about 1% of that is attributed to Safari, Opera, and various other browser alternatives, the majority of it is directly attributed to Firefox. Gecko-based browsers in general are now claiming about 9% of web browser usage.
