First HD-DVD Player Released

Toshiba has announced today the very first commercial HD-DVD player, the HD-XA1.

The features are pretty basic, but then again, there’s not much room for improvement in video players, unless you make a console out of one, or vice-versa.

The player will be released April 27th for 795 USD and will support the 30 GB HD-DVDs as well as the 1080-720p resolution.

So the race is now officially on. So what will it be folks, a 30GB HD-DVD video player for 800 bucks or wait for the 360’s HD-DVD add-on, or wait for the PS3 which will, hopefully, be released this Christmas. *knocks on wood*
