Harry Potter Art

The Nucleus Gallery in Alhambra, California is currently exhibiting a fantastic selection artwork by professional artists inspired by the Harry Potter books and movies. The exhibition just began on July 9th, and runs through August 1st.

Included artwork — which number almost 100 pieces by more than 50 artists — include sculptures, paintings, and even full-sized installations. Opening Night was a grand occasion where attendees were invited to come in costume (and got free admission if they did, otherwise it was $2 per person), and were served Butterbeer, sorted into Houses, enjoyed a Snitch Seeking game, tasted mystery Bertie Botts jelly beans, and loads more, including contests and prizes. One grand prize winner even won an exclusive art print by Mary GrandPré — the artist who painted the covers to the U.S. versions of all seven books.

The Nucleus is also sponsoring an art auction to purchase some of the pieces. Fortunately for those of us not in California, you can view the entire collection online. I’ve included some of my favorite pieces below.
