Has Google Reached Its Limits?
Has Google reached a plateau? While Google leads the pack in the search business, its market share has dropped a full percentage point from 44.7% in June this year to 43.7% in July. Analysts warn this could be an indication that Google has reached its limit in aggressively garnering market share gains.
Bear Stearns & Co. Inc. analyst Robert Peck is warning investors that Google may be at a “topping point,” according to Market Watch reports.
“Google’s share of the U.S. Internet search market dipped a full percentage point in July when compared to June’s total, according to research released Friday by comScore Networks Incâ?Š 43.7% of all search queries conducted in the United States in July used a Google search engine, down from the 44.7% attributed to Google the month before.”
Still, Google is undoubtedly at the top. And while there’s no way from there but down (or a sustained strong position as a market leader), I’m confident that Google will maintain pole position in the search market, at least in the foreseeable future.
