Has World of Warcraft's player base peaked?

Ever since it’s release, the incredibly popular MMO made by Blizzard, has never stopped growing in terms of player numbers. The growth seemed to never, but finally, after 32 months, it appears that the player base has finally peaked, and the number of active players has started to decrease, or at least according to the statistics made by WarcraftRealms.com based on the /who command which shows how many players are online, which was used during peak hours.

There are various reasons for which the game’s player base might be decreasing, but that didn’t stop it before. In my case, for example, I’m in the middle of exams, therefore I don’t have any time to play the game, so I simply stopped subscribing for a few months. Then again, perhaps some players are simply starting to get tired of it.

Among my WoW playing friends, I have heard a few of them mentioning that they didn’t feel like playing it (that day). So maybe the coolness factor has already ended, and perhaps the player base will now fluctuate up and down and then stabilize.

Have you stopped playing World of Warcraft recently? And if so, why did you stop?
