Hawking Says Humans Must Go Into Space
Stephen Hawking is such an interesting guy, but his faith in humanity to sustain itself on this mothership called Earth leaves a little to be desired. In a recent conference he basically said that the survival of the human race is dependant on us finding a new home elsewhere in the universe because we might kill ourselves off in the next 100 years from global warming, nuclear war, a genetically engineered virus or other dangers we have not yet thought of.
Not a happy thought, but one that many of us should keep in the back of our minds as we realize the possiblities of a bird flu pandemic, global warming issues, new development of nuclear weapons, and our increasing understanding of genetics.
What do you think, will humanity survive the next 100 years?
