Haze - Release Date Confirmed
Computer and Video Games has confirmed that Haze has now been given a release date – and that date is May 23rd. This has been verified by a Ubisoft sales rep that CVG spoke to directly and it should mean that the game comes out on time. This is something that’s quite rare in the industry, so should be a cause for celebration (and make Duke Nukem Forever even more of a laughing stock).
Haze is a PS3 FPS game that comes from the critically acclaimed developers of TimeSplitters (Free Radical) and the publishers of Far Cry. The game is set twenty-five years into the future, where governments have outsourced their military to private corporations (not like the situation in some areas of Iraq).
In the single player campaign, your character is Shane Carpenter – a soldier in the Mantel army, thought to be fighting the ‘good’ cause. However, Mantel is being used to kill innocent people – their soldiers administered with ‘Nectar’ to stop them seeing the horrors that they commit and blinding them to their own crimes. The Promise Hand is a group who are trying to overturn the Mantel army and stop them in their tracks.
The multiplayer aspect is where Haze looks really interesting. Not only does Nectar act as part of the story, but also it gives Mantel soldiers abilities such as more damaging melee acts and a special ‘Nectar’ vision to spot enemy soldiers. The Promise Hand meanwhile can get their revenge by playing dead, shooting the Nectar packs on an enemy Mantle soldier and even taking their weapons. All looks pretty good and is shaping up to be a great PS3 exclusive.
