Health and Physical Education for 30-Year-Old Men Coming This Spring
Are you a single male aged 30 or over? Do you have a tough time speaking to members of the opposite sex? Are you still looking forward to your first date? Do you watch anime?
If you answered yes to all of the above questions, then there’s good news. Starting this Spring, ‘Health and Physical Education for 30-Year-Old Men’ (30-sai no Hoken Taiiku) will begin airing in Japan. What is it, you ask? It is an animated guide on how to approach, date, and make love with women. The anime is advertised as being intended for “pure” men who are in their 30’s. In other words, think of 40-Year-Old Virgin, but add to that never having been on a date or have had a long conversation with a woman. This is basically for all the guys that missed out on all the life lessons from high school and college.
Health and Physical Education for 30-Year-Old Men is definitely one of the stranger anime to come out recently. The idea originally came from a set of books by the same title. The books are split into different volumes, one detailing the intricacies of dating and the other explaining how things are done in the bedroom. Chapters within the books have detailed instructions on things like how to approach a woman, how to ask for a date, and even how certain positions work. How these books lead to an anime is due to having a few pages of manga at the start of each chapter, and once something gets into the world of manga, it’s usually only a matter of time before it shows up as an anime.
I will be looking forward to this show for the laughs, as I’m sure many others will too. It’ll be like sex education in grade school all over again, but with all of the intentionally left out stuff put back in. To get a brief look at what the anime will be like, check out the trailer.
