How the iPod click wheel works
Everyone that has ever felt or used a Click Wheel has probably wondered how it works. When I bought my Nano, I thought it would work in a similar way to a PDA, but it works even when it’s inside a sock/container or your pocket (which can sometimes be troublesome if you accidentaly turn up the volume by walking).
In any case, it seems that the Click Wheel needs both an electricity conductor, and a certain surface area in order to work.
Even though you don’t really need to know or understand how it works, it does make me wonder if they’ll be able to completely “replicate” the clickwheel when (or if) Apple moves it to a touchscreen.
