Iomega's eGo Helium 320GB portable drive

By Jim

Recommending the Helium drive as a great pair to the Macbook Air makes sense, doesn’t it?  Here is Iomega’s page saying that, while also displaying a “Macbook Air-ish” design for their eGo Helium 320 GB portable drive.

Retails for about US$142.49, average price I think that will attract the MBA users to pair-up with an equally elegant-silver-silky hard drive.  With the paper clip as a visual peg for size, it appears as it’s no larger (or probably equal to) a man’s back pocket wallet!  :)  Great job iomega!

I remember using iomega products during the zip drive days, which I think was over 10-years ago.  I recommended iomega stuff to my clients for backup needs, never failed me.  And I think it’s about time that iomega catches on with drive power of their own with the eGo.

The aluminum chassis and its rounded edges were designed to complement the MacBook Air, though it’ll work with other Macs as well. The drive has been formatted with HFS+. Other features include Iomega’s “Drop Guard” design, to protect the drive from drops up to 51 inches onto industrial carpeting. The drive is USB-powered, so it doesn’t need an external power supply.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.1.5 or later.
