Larry Page is Upset With Slowness of Google Search

It appears that one of the “Google Guys” isn’t too happy about the speed of the Google search engine. That guy is Larry Page, said one Google Executive, Omid Kordestani. “Larry literally sits in front of our search engine and counts how long” he said at a Web 2.0 conference. I checked to see how the top 3 search engines matched up against each other in terms of speed. He was right, I did a search for the word “the” on Yahoo, Google, and MSN Search. These are the results:

  1. Yahoo‘ times: 0.02, 0.02, 0.02, 0.02, 0.04
    average: 0.024
  2. MSN’s times: 0.22, 0.10, 0.09, 0.23, 0.19
    average: 0.166
  3. Google’s times: 0.47, 0.21, 0.12, 0.14, 0.17
    average: 0.222

Of course, these results could be modified, although I believe they’re using a function similar to this one.
