Some say that you don’t have to be a good writer to make it in the world of blogging. I have expressed my heartfelt disagreement regarding this point – while I believe that you do not have to be the best writer, you at least have to be a decent one. Basic writing skills are of paramount importance: proper capitalization, spelling, and punctuation are good places to start.
For those of you who are turned off by the idea (who needs proper punctuation anyway?), here’s something that might just change your mind. Over the weekend, I went to a local shopping mecca in the city. As usual, whenever I go there, my eyes just pop out due to the number of things that I want to buy. I got the most pleasant surprise of my life when I saw this shirt, though.
Yup, Comma Sutra is what they call it. An English teacher by day and a writer the rest of the time, I couldn’t stop myself from laughing as I examined the shirt.
Obviously, the formations (or positions, if you will) printed on the shirt are not things you could apply when writing a blog post, but it sure does provide for an interesting conversation piece! I think these shirts have been out in the market for a while now. You can even find them online for $15 – Sackwear sells them in two colors and five sizes. As for me, I got one for a pretty good deal. Time to learn the art of comma sutra!
